Hello!

My name is Brett Brorman! Thank you for taking an interest in my blog.

I’m an engineer by profession and love spending quality time with my beautiful wife and three children outside of work. I also enjoy spending time outside, whether it’s golfing, doing yardwork, or just spending time with the family. Below is a little bit more about me and my life so far. Thanks for the visit, I hope you stick around!

September 1995

Birth! At 9lbs 2oz, my parents and older brother welcomed me into the world in the commercial coastal city of Corpus Christi, TX. We wouldn’t stay in Corpus for long though, as my dad would soon accept a position as a process engineer at the (then) Cosden Oil Refinery in Big Spring, TX. We picked up and moved to Big Spring in 1996, when I was just one year old, and we would call the town home for the next 17 years.

Graduation from High School! I graduated from Big Spring High School in a class of about 200. Being a somewhat small Texas town (population around 25,000), there wasn’t much to do in town. The only fun things to do on the weekend were to go to the movie theater or to the bowling alley. Other than that, once you got to be a Junior or Senior, house parties and bonfires took over as the entertainment of choice for most. Not the greatest decision looking back, but created a lot of fun memories with friends!

December 2018

Graduation from College! I graduated from Texas Tech University with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering. I really enjoyed my time at Tech. The football games are awesome, the campus is great, and the people in the Texas Panhandle are some of the best you’ll ever meet! During college, I held several part-time positions, two of which included being a waiter at a restaurant called Harrigan’s and as a sales associate at Sherwin Williams. I would highly recommend working as a waiter or waitress at least once in your life. The customer service lessons to be learned are invaluable!

January 2019

First real job! I got my first real job as an Entry-Level Distribution Design Engineer for a company called Xcel Energy. Little did I know that I would fall into one of the best groups of young engineers out there! I learned a ton about electrical engineering and was able move up through the ranks quickly. I became a Staff Engineer two years later, then obtained my Professional Engineer license and became a Senior Engineer in 2024 after acquiring five years of industry experience.

I said I do! My wife and I got married in May of 2019! We had dated for a long time, and I wanted to graduate college and get a job before getting married. Well, I accomplished both of those things, so it was time to tie the knot. She has been my best friend for many years and one of my biggest supporters. I’m not sure what I’d do without her.

March 2020

Pandemic!! And birth of first child! My wife and I welcomed our first child, a boy, in March of 2020. Much to our surprise, the world would have a complete melt down shortly after. One week after the birth of our child, all office personnel were ordered to work from home for the foreseeable future. Although many people suffered and died, which I feel deeply sorry about, Covid allowed me to witness the growth and milestones of the entire first year of my son’s life. There are so many moments I got to experience, like crawling, walking, talking, that I am so grateful I was there for. It wasn’t always easy working from the house with a newborn (i.e. screaming baby during conference calls), but there were definitely more good moments than bad.

April 2021

Birth of second child! We welcomed our second child, another boy, in April of 2021. Although we didn’t expect to have another one quite this soon, he’s turned out to be an awesome little boy! He and his older brother are like two peas in a pod, and they’ll definitely cause some ladies to be jealous down the road. Parenthood has taught me so much about myself, about leadership, and about the importance of a good family structure. There are definitely roles to play and the better my wife and I play those roles, the better the house runs and the happier everyone is. I wasn’t completely ready for parenthood the first time around, but, with this one, I knew what I was getting into and it allowed me to appreciate all the little moments even more.

August 2024

Birth of third child! We finally got a girl this time around, and she is the best baby yet (sorry boys). She’s been such a blessing and overall just the happiest little baby. Having a girl has been a learning experience for us, and all we can say is that we’re extremely grateful for all of our kids.

January 2025

Starting a blog and business! That about brings us to the present. I’ve decided to start this blog to help generate some extra income, generate leads for my engineering business, and hopefully provide some useful content for others.

Anyway, that’s enough about me! If you’ve made it this far, thank you for reading. I really do want to help others and connect with more people. I’m looking forward to this next phase in my life and I hope many others will appreciate what I have to share. Thanks again!
